The Singapore in My Heart

Singapore is a food paradise, with food in almost every estate. Other than shopping, this is the other 'magnet' pulling tourist from all over the world just to get a taste of Asia. The unique thing about this tittle red dot is that we eat in hawker centers, not air-conditioned food courts like those in most western countries.

All Singaporeans are self-proclaimed food critics, flocking to wherever there is good food. One of these hawker centres is the East Coast Park Hawker Center. On weekends, Singaporeans from every nock and cranny of the island flock to this very hawker center to eat.

Ranging from duck rice to barbecued stingray, who can choose? People 'station' themselves at tables to wait for seats while not so lucky ones 'fly' in circles like vultures around a carcass. Rapidly growing dragons snake out of stalls, turning the food complex into an obstacle course for people who are returning to their 'nests' with the 'Kill OF The Day'.

Clanging of woks and shouted orders criss-cross the center like bullets zinging past in a battlefield. Slurping of noodles and clicking of chopsticks also fill the area. During the peak hours, disable musicians start playing music or singing to music while the clinking of coins synchronize  with the beat of wheels till the place as bikers and rollerbladers come to feast after their long and arduous journey around the park.
